Voices of Madison - New Online Audio Feature

Christopher
The Christopher's building

It is customary for businesses looking for new locations to gather facts through descriptive brochures, community tours and meetings with town officials and try to make the decision based on all the information they can gather. It is difficult for anyone making a relocation decision to get a feel for the community without spending a fair amount of time there.

Madison has a rich history and as a small community, many long-time residents can shed light on the character and attributes of the town that cannot be expressed through a few photos or a brochure. To that end, MBG will be bringing the Voices of Madison to the Web through digital audio recordings and interviews that will be posted on the media page of this site. These vignettes are intended to provide prospective and current businesses, residents, visitors and history buffs with a colorful, home-spun history of this central Maine town.

In our first installment, lifetime Madison residents, Keith Blackwell and Norman Dean share some history of the town from the WWII era. Tales about Elmer's Rat Hole, Fudgecicles and trains filled with oranges bound for POW camps bring the town's rich heritage to life.
